Christmas Miniature Dollhouse Cake

Hi Mini Friends,

Wow, it is the first of November and Christmas is right around the corner.  Are you feeling the holiday mood in the air?  Well, it is time, past time, to get busy making Christmas dollhouse miniatures.  I have started making a few cakes, but they have not been baked yet.  So, today I wanted to share a cake that I made last year.  It is one of my favorites from last year.  I may try to remake this cake.  I do love how the colors look so pretty together.  I wonder if I can improve on the look?  Now, I have to try making a new one.   In the mean time, I hope you enjoy!

Dollhouse Miniature Pumpkin Patch

Hi Mini Friends,

Since today is the last day in October, I decided to show some of the pumpkins that I made recently.  I made several different sizes and different colors.  I even colored a few of the pumpkins with acrylic paint to change the color and make the pumpkins look a little more "weathered".  I had the little sign from items that I purchased and thought it would look so cute in the middle of the pumpkins.   I planned to try my hand at making more gourds and squash to complete the look.  I just ran out of time for working with the clay.

Miniature Pumpkin Spice Caramel Cheesecake

Hi Mini Friends,

So, to stay with the fall theme, I wanted to make a pumpkin spice dessert.  I decided to make a pumpkin spice cheesecake.  I mixed the pumpkin spice clay with a little beige and translucent mixed.  I mixed the colors just a little.  Not enough to combine the two, but just a mixture look.  I then added it to the crust and cut a slice.  I textured the cake part, then drizzled everything with caramel.  Lastly, I added a few "nuts" to the top.

Miniature Packaged Turkey Cake

Hi Mini friends,

Today, I have a special treat.  I was so excited to make a "packaged" cake.  I wanted a cake for the dollhouse that looked like I just went to the store and picked it up and brought it home.  I decided to make a cute little turkey cake.  I measured the cake to make sure that everything would fit.  Next, I glued the cake to the bottom so it would not move around.  Last, I made a label to glue on top of the container.  I am happy with the outcome!

Dollhouse Miniature Peach Cobbler

Hi Mini Friends,

Guess what?  I still have many peaches.  I made a lot of peaches.  I mean a lot!  So, I wanted to make more peach desserts.  So, I decided to make a peach cobbler.  Well, 2 peach cobblers.

I added the peaches to the plates first.  I mixed a little tls with some orange, yellow and a touch of red chalk to give the sauce look.  Next, I took a little beige and tan clay to make the cobbler look.  I flaked the clay a little to give it a crumbly look.  Then I colored it a little with chalk to give it a baked look.  Lastly, I added a little cream on top.  It fell a little flat once baked.  After baking, I glazed the final product.  It looks a little yummy!

Dollhouse Miniature Caramel Peach Pie A la Mode

Hi Mini Friends,

I had so many extra peaches, that I had to make a few more desserts!  So today, I have a peach pie cut into slices.  I then topped the peach pie with vanilla ice cream.  The pies looked like they needed a little more so I decided to add a little drizzle of caramel to the top.  Ok, it was a lot of caramel.  Yummy caramel!

Dollhouse Miniature Peach & Blueberry Tart

Hi Mini Friends,

Today I have a peach & blueberry tart.  I wanted to make some peaches.  I love, love peaches, so I wanted to make some kind of dessert.  Of course, I found this image on Google too.  It was a yummy peach tart with blueberries and cream topped. 

I decided to make the shell bottom and colored it a little with clay to darken.  I then baked the shell for about 5 minutes, so it would harden a little.  Then, I added a little "cream", white clay, to the bottom of the shell to give the cream look.  Next, I layered the peaches in a circle.  Lastly, I added a few blueberries around the peaches.  Once baked, I glazed the top.

Dollhouse Pumpkin Spice Cake Roll

Hi Mini Friends,

I have been busy baking in the mini kitchen for the holidays.  Recently, I mixed together orange, brown, translucent and a little black clay to give a pumpkin looking clay.  Trying to stay with a pumpkin spice theme, I couldn't figure out what to make.  Then I googled a few pictures and found a yummy looking pumpkin spice roll.  Of course, I had to try making a mini version. 

It has been so long since I have made a cake roll, so I had to remember.  Anyway, I rolled out a little pumpkin spice clay mixture.  Then I mixed white and translucent and a little beige clay to make the inside icing.  I rolled & cut it a little shorter than the pumpkin spice.  After rolling together, I cut a slice and then textured the cake part and also the cream part.  I ended up making 2 rolls.  This is the finished product.

Dollhouse Jack-O-Lantern

Hi Everyone,

Today I decided to try something new.  I decided to make a mini jack-o-lantern...or something.  It did not turn out like I pictured.  First, I started with orange clay, making a pumpkin shape.  I added a little lighter yellow color inside the pumpkin so when I started carving the face, you would see the yellow instead of just an empty shell.  I then took a little brown acrylic paint.  I applied it with a makeup sponge.  Then immediately took a paper towel and wiped it off of the pumpkin.  This gave some brown spots in the crevices.  It made the pumpkin look a little "weathered".  Then I set it aside to finish drying while I worked on the "guts".

For the pumpkin guts, I made a batch of yellow, orange, tan and translucent clay, mixed up and cooked for about five minutes.  This allowed me to have the clay semi-baked, so I could cut up the clay to make it look like the inside of the pumpkin.  So I added a little TLS and chalk to the cut up cooked clay to make it look like the inside of the pumpkin.  I became a little impatient and didn't give the TLS time to "melt" the baked clay a little more.  You can tell in the picture that some of the baked clay did not get cut up enough.  I noticed the lighter colored clay almost looks like noodles instead of stringy guts, but by that time it was too late.  I set this aside.

Now, back to the actual pumpkin.  I then cut out a brown rectangle piece to set the pumpkin scene on top.  I had an extra newspaper so I added that to the scene with a little TLS.  I then added the pumpkin.  Finally, I put some pumpkin guts falling out of the top of the pumpkin and onto the sides.  I even have a few pieces of the cut pumpkin attached in front of the pumpkin on the newspaper.  It looks a little more like a pumpkin soup instead of the pumpkin guts.

Miniature Pumpkin Ombre Cake

Hi Mini Friends,

Today I wanted to share another take on a Miniature Pumpkin Ombre Cake.  I tried to make it a little different.  This time I used similar colors to my candy corn cakes.  It turned out a little brighter than expected.  I started with the dark orange color for the bottom layer.  I then used another lighter orange (bright orange) for the middle layer.  I then added a little white and translucent to the bright orange to make the lighter top layer color.  It really did not look too bright before cooking, or maybe I was too tired and didn't realize how bright the colors looked.  I layered and flaked the cake.  Then, I added 3 small little pumpkins on top.  Lastly, I added a little bit of brown clay as a rope form.  I shaped the rope to look like mini vines flowing from the pumpkins.  I think next time I will use the darker orange to give more of an autumn look.  Oh well, onto the next project!

Dollhouse Miniature Pumpkin Candy

Hi Mini Friends,

The weather is changing and it feels like fall in the air.  So, I wanted to create a pumpkin with candy.  I had extra pieces of candy left over that I wanted to use.  I really could not decide how to stage the pumpkin and the candy, so I cut out a rectangle piece of clay for a tray.  I made a small little pumpkin and gave her a cute little face.   I placed the pumpkin on the tray and added a few pieces of candy inside.  I had a few candy corn pieces, some candy sticks, extra licorice and a few other pieces of candy.  I added too many to the tray and had to take off several because you could not see the tray.  I then tried again and added just a few pieces.  This is the final project.

Dollhouse Mini 1:12 Scale Candy Corn Cake

Hi Everyone,

Today I just had to make a small candy corn cake. The large ones were so much fun, but my mini dolls needed cakes too! So, I made a few more tiny candy corn candies.  Then I made two cakes with white, orange & yellow layers. Then, I covered the layers with white icing.  Finally, I decorated the cakes with tiny candy corn.  Now I think all of the dolls have had more than enough candy corn cakes!

Dollhouse Miniature Candy Corn Cakes

Today I made a regular Candy Corn Cake.  Instead of making just one regular candy corn cake, I decided to make 2 cakes, just a little different.  The first one is basically a traditional white, orange & yellow cake with white icing.  I then decorated with the mini candy corn.  The second cake is a double layer candy corn cake.  I layered white, orange, yellow, white, orange & then yellow again.  I covered the cake with white icing and decorated the cake with a few mini candy corn.  Now I think it is time to make a smaller 12th scale version...

Dollhouse Miniature Chocolate Candy Corn Cake

Hi Everyone,

Today I made a candy corn cake.  This candy corn was made with white, orange & chocolate.  I made the cake layers the same colors as the candy corn.  I actually made a mix up on the colors for the small candy corn.  The colors should have been white, orange then chocolate.  I changed them up by accident, but fixed the colors the right way when I made the cake.  It still turned out ok.  I made the cake a larger size for barbie sized dolls.

Dollhouse Miniature Pumpkin Candy Cakes

Hi Everyone,

Today I wanted to share another project.  I saw a picture of a black cat on top of a pumpkin cake with the top cut off.  The cake had candy corn on the side.  So, of course, I had to try it in miniature form.  I made a pumpkin first.  Then, I made a black cat and tried to "sit" it on top of the pumpkin cake.  That did not work.  So, I made a scoop in the cake and added a little tls with color then added the cat.  I tried to make eyes and a mouth on the cat, but that did not turn out well, so I just made a plain cat.  Then, I added a few pieces of candy corn and candy sticks.  I made a base to put the pumpkin cake.  I then added the cake and more candies.  I also added a pumpkin for one cake and the others I added the top to the pumpkin.

Dollhouse Miniature Fall Pumpkin Scene

Hi Mini Friends,

This is one of the items that I have been working on for the past week.  I saw a really cute idea for kids using candy to make a cute little scene for the fall.  First, you get black licorice candy sticks and stand them up together making a tree like form.  Next you get the candy pumpkins and stand them near the licorice tree.  And finally use candy corn to surround the pumpkins and licorice to make it look like a fence.  This scene was made on top of a cookie base.  It was so cute, I thought how would that look in miniature form?  So, of course, I had to try making a similar scene.  This is the final product.  Of course, several of the fake candy corn did not want to take part...some broke, some fell and some just did not want to stand.

Dollhouse Miniature Ombre Pumpkin Cake

Hi Mini Friends,

Well, the pumpkins and cakes are finished but I did not have time to take pictures of the new items yet.  So today I wanted to share another cake that I previously made.  This is an Ombre Pumpkin Cake.  I made the cake with orange ombre layers.  I then made a large pumpkin for the center.  Then, I made several leaves to "fall" from the cake.  Then finally, I made a roll/snake with the same brown clay.  Then I made little swirls with the clay to make it look like it was a vine with the leaves attached falling from the pumpkin.  I wish that I would have taken a better picture.  It has been shipped to its' forever home.  I should have pictures of the new projects by tomorrow.

Dollhouse Miniature Barbie Sized Cake

Hi Mini Friends,

I have finished working on my pumpkins and a few cakes.  Tonight I finished baking the items and I finally coated the items.  This is a cake the I previously made.  It is just a plain Vanilla Spice Cake.  It is rather large.  I made the 3 layer cake for a Barbie Scene.  Hopefully everything will be dry by tomorrow and I can start taking pictures and sharing the new creations.

Today I am still making fall miniatures.  I started several projects and need to finish some today.  This cake is a chocolate nut cake.  I made a small chocolate layer in the center.  Then I added chocolate swirls with toasted pecans & crushed pecans to the top.

Dollhouse Miniature Fall / Autumn Cakes

Well, it is raining here today, but the sun is still shining.  It is still very hot and humid.  There is also a change in the air.  It is starting to feel like fall.  I am now working on some autumn/fall items.  I have a few fall scenes that I am making.  I am also working on some fall cakes.  This cake has a tree with leaves falling.  Perfect for the autumn/fall time.  I am trying to work on my leaves.  They are getting better but still need a little more work.  I should have made them a little smaller to fit better with the tree...well, maybe next time!
